MSA Activities for the week of 10-27-13

South Central SAS Users Group (SCSUG) hosts a Graduate Student Symposium in Analytics

19 of our current MSA students will be attending a Student Symposium in Analytics in San Antonio on Oct. 31st - Nov.1st.  This is an exciting opportunity for these students because it provides a chance to showcase both the great talent and potential of our MSA students as future analytics professionals and our MSA program as a leader in business intelligence and analytics education.

3 LSU MSA students from the graduating class of 2014 will be presenting papers at the symposium (Charles Cruthirds,, Saumitra Sharma, and Michael Waldmeier).

The purpose of the symposium is to provide students, future analytics professionals, a venue for communicating analytical ideas, sharing SAS software techniques, networking and learning from professionals in the field.

The MSA students work in small groups utilizing large databases of information from real companies to produce and solve business problems in areas such as marketing, insurance, banking, healthcare, communications, e-commerce, and law enforcement.  This program is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals who understand "big data" and have the specialized analytic skills needed to extract actionable information from large and complex data sets.
