Shopper's Choice Web Analytics group presentation

The MSA students presented their projects to the representative from Shopper's Choice, Mr. Jason Stutes.  Each group was responsible for a 5 minute proposal of recommendations for the company to improve its profitability based on the decision rules and metrics that have learned in their Web Analytics class.

Group presentations to Internet Retail Connection

The MSA students prepared presentations based on research of the database for Internet Retail Connection.  Their projects were comprised of the decision rules they would implement in order to make this company more profitable.  They did research and came up with the analytic parameters they felt would work best for this company.  They then did a 5 -10 minute presentation to the CIO (Steve Musumeche) and the CEO (Warren Sager) of Internet Retail Connection.

Michael Waldmeier's presentation at the SCSUG conference in San Antonio

Michael Waldmeier presented during the Student Symposium at the SCSUG conference in San Antonio on Oct 31st - Nov 1st.  The topic he presented on was : "Extending the Functionality of the SAS Library:  Using Visual Basic and SAS to Design Applications to Meet Your Business Needs".

19 of our current MSA students attended the SCSUG conference in San Antonio Oct 31st - Nov 1st.    There was a Graduate Student symposium were the students presented their papers on different topics related to Business Analytics.  The purpose of the symposium was to provide the students, future analytic professionals, a venue for communicating analytical ideas, sharing SAS software techniques, networking and learning from professionals in the field.

Graduate from the MSA class of 2012 - Rusty Frioux

Rusty Frioux, former graduate of LSU's MSA program, is the founder of DATACLEAR, a business analytics consulting company in Baton Rouge.  He talks about using data to solve problems for local companies.  "When you have some sort of new technical competency, it creates a lot of opportunity if you can convince the market that those things matter."

MSA Activities for the week of 10-27-13

South Central SAS Users Group (SCSUG) hosts a Graduate Student Symposium in Analytics

19 of our current MSA students will be attending a Student Symposium in Analytics in San Antonio on Oct. 31st - Nov.1st.  This is an exciting opportunity for these students because it provides a chance to showcase both the great talent and potential of our MSA students as future analytics professionals and our MSA program as a leader in business intelligence and analytics education.

3 LSU MSA students from the graduating class of 2014 will be presenting papers at the symposium (Charles Cruthirds,, Saumitra Sharma, and Michael Waldmeier).

The purpose of the symposium is to provide students, future analytics professionals, a venue for communicating analytical ideas, sharing SAS software techniques, networking and learning from professionals in the field.

LSU's Master of Science in Analytics (MSA) is an exciting new degree that prepares students for interesting and rewarding jobs in analytics and business intelligence.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ANALYTICS

Please join Dr. Jim Van Scotter, Dr. Joni Shreve and several MSA students for an information session on Tuesday, October 29, 2013.

Dr. Van Scotter and Dr. Shreve will discuss the MSA program and talk about the classes involved in the curriculum, projects the students are working on and impressive career opportunities that await graduates from this degree.  There will be several students from the current MSA class who will be there to answer any questions you may have.
